With the competency buzz all the rage, hear how Clemson University is making headway by rethinking its approach to every interaction it has with students. Attendees will also hear about the process of forming strategic partnerships across the university to create a campus culture where everyone is invested in helping students acquire and articulate the competencies employers are seeking. Finally, learn about the variety of events and informal and formal assessment connected to these efforts.

PRESENTER:

Kristin Walker, Ph.D.
Associate Director of Analytics and Initiatives

Dr. Kristin Walker serves as the Associate Director of Analytics and Initiatives at Clemson University’s Center for Career and Professional Development. One of her responsibilities includes coordinating the competency initiatives outlined in this program. Kristin also teaches in Clemson’s master’s and doctoral programs and has been working in education for 13 years.

PRESENTER:

Kathy Horner, M.Ed.
Assistant Director of Graduate & Off-Campus Internship Programs

Ms. Kathy Horner serves as the Assistant Director of Graduate Programs and Off-Campus Internships at Clemson University’s Center for Career and Professional Development. Kathy has served on the CCPD team, under Kristin Walker’s leadership, charged with developing the competencies and creating a campus culture around those competencies through career counseling, events, and social media marketing. Kathy has worked in higher education for 8 years and previously in small business start-ups for 5 years.
