TOM MUNNERLYN - Cal Poly Pomona, Director
I have been a member of MPACE(WACE) since January 1998. My desire to serve on the board comes from a long history of being involved with MPACE and the many various committees that I have been involved with. I Co-chaired the MPACE Seattle Conference, December 2006. I also co-chaired the Sponsorship Committee for the Seattle Conference. I was Regional Director Pacific North for two years. I Co-Chaired Sponsorship Committees for the San Diego Conference, Salt Lake City Conference, and Disneyland Conference. I also co-initiated the sponsor’s reception during the MPACE conference.
I feel that with my experience for the past ten years as the Director of the Career Center at Cal Poly Pomona and ten years in the Career Center as Director at Oregon State University has prepared me to provide the leadership for MPACE. Serving on the board would give me the opportunity to develop and grow as a leader. My commitment to the board and to members would be to assist with programs to meet the needs of members.
LIZ ZAVALA-ACEVEZ - California State University Fullerton, Director
My experience in the organization dates back to 2005 when I first became an MPACE member and attended my first annual MPACE conference in Arizona. Throughout my career I have had the honor of participating and taking full advantage of what the organization has to offer. Some of my highlights of my membership with the organization include attending over ten annual conferences, being named the MPACE MLI scholarship recipient in 2013, Co-Chairing the 2015 MPACE Anaheim Conference, and most recently serving as the Interim Secretary on the MPACE Board.
My experience working directly with the MPACE Board as conference co-chair and recently as Interim Secretary has provided me a glimpse of the level of commitment, dedication, and skills needed to be a successful board member. These experiences along with my professional interests have prepared me to be a contributing member of the organization by serving in a leadership role within the organization.
BEN CHULALUXSIRIBOON - Northrop Grumman, University Relations
My experience in the organization dates back to 1996, when I first became a member of WACE. I've had the pleasure of serving on a variety of committees over the last 20 years. Within the last five years specifically, I served on the Pacific South Regional committee for two and a half years and had the pleasure of serving as a committee co-chair for the 2015 Anaheim conference. It was this experience which significantly piqued my interest in greater leadership roles within the organization, specifically the MPACE Board.
I feel that my professional experience running the Talent Acquisition and Talent Development departments for the Southern California Group of Enterprise Holdings over the last 11 years also prepares me for this next step in my involvement in Executive Leadership with MPACE.
LINDA SARGENT - University of Denver, Daniels College of Business
Associate Dir. of Employer Relations
Mountain North Regional Director
Before joining the Career Services team at the Daniels College of Business, University of Denver in Oct 2015, I was a Regional Account Executive at Dr Pepper Snapple Group. Prior to that, I owned a corporate gift company and a content marketing company.
Since the spring of 2016, I have served on the Events Committee of the Mountain North Region. My interest in serving on the MPACE board is to create opportunities to achieve meaningful relationships and to create occasions for information sharing that are vital to the success of students, universities and companies.
I enjoy the connections that MPACE offers with the corporate world and with my counterparts in Career Services from other campuses. My engagement with MPACE has helped me understand more deeply that people outside my organization are a valuable asset and a conduit to information and conversation about improving our industry.
LORI BROWN - Seattle Pacific University, Employer Relations Manager
Pacific North Regional Director
I became a member of MPACE in 2014 when I attended my first MPACE Conference as a newcomer to the world of career services. My previous experience as a fundraiser in the non-profit world for the past 20 years was a great primer for learning how to effectively engage employers on behalf of students and universities. I’ve been honored to attend every MPACE conference since joining, and nearly all of our regional events, in an effort to gain as much understanding as possible about our industry and learn how we can best serve students.
The professional level of training I’ve received through MPACE has been significant for me, and I want to be a part of making sure this great tradition continues. This is my motivation for wanting to be involved at a higher level with the MPACE Board, and serving the Pac North region. I’d like to work on behalf of our colleagues to ensure MPACE continues to offer the best training possible, the best ways to connect with one another, and the best ways to grow on a personal, professional and organizational level.
ELIZABETH MONTGOMERY - University of California Riverside, Assistant Director
Pacific South Regional Director
My experience in the organization began in early 2013 when I first became a member of MPACE and then soon after joined the Pacific South Regional Programming Committee. Within the last four years I have helped to organize employer open houses, best practice sharing round table events, mixers, and employment expert presentations. I earned an MPACE scholarship to attend the NACE Management Leadership Institute in July 2015 and I have also had the pleasure of serving as the Interim Regional Director – Pacific South from 2014 through 2015.
These experiences, combined with my 7 years of experience in career services, have significantly influenced my interest in greater leadership roles within the organization, specifically the MPACE Board.
I hope that I can give as much back to the MPACE organization and members as I have received through my involvement. I look forward to taking the next step in serving MPACE through taking on a board role.
