Emerging Trends in employment Law & What to Expect in 2020

Speakers: Attorneys Linda Moroney and Sara Moore from law firm Gordon & Rees Scully Mansukhani.

Description: Each year brings new laws and regulations that can easily catch employers – including educational institutions – unprepared. This presentation will review salient changes in California and Federal employment law with a particular emphasis on common “traps” for employers based on the ever-changing legal landscape. Our speakers will review litigation trends and provide cutting edge advice as to how to develop best practices to avoid liability in the employment arena.

Highlights will include:

- Explore recent trends in employment law, including the effect of the #MeToo movement on litigation;

- Hear best practices for how to handle hot topics such as arbitration agreements and workplace accommodation issues;

- Understand how to classify employees to avoid tricky wage and hour violations per the latest rulings regarding independent contractors and proposed legislation regarding part-time lecturers;

- Learn how to identify an employee complaint and when an investigation is triggered.

Registration Costs: $10 members & $25 for non-members.
