New MPACE Diversity and Inclusion Director Position for 2020-2021 Term

The Mountain Pacific Association of College and Employers is bringing back the Diversity and Inclusion Director role to its Board of Directors in response to members’ feedback. The position is slated for the 2020-2021 nominations.


According to MPACE President Tom Munnerlyn and Director of Cal Poly Pomona Career Center, the elected Diversity and Inclusion Director will advocate for representation of all members on the MPACE board and associated leadership positions, regional and conference programming, membership recruitment, and scholarships.


The Director will oversee the Diversity & Inclusion Committee, with representation on Regional Committees, the Nominations Committee, Conference Committees, Membership Committee, and the Communications Committee.


“We feel that with the current structure of the Board, this role can help us improve our attention to diversity and inclusion initiatives in all aspects of the activities, annual conference, and overall membership experience,” said Nicole Wagner, Group Talent Acquisition Manager/HR Manager-Enterprise Holdings, Southern California Group and past MPACE President. “Our association is extremely diverse, and with a laser focus on spotlighting inclusion for our membership in our MPACE initiatives, we won’t miss opportunities to continue to add value to our members, associate members, and our professional discipline.”


The position will support MPACE’s commitment to diversity. As part of this commitment, the organizations strives to attain a diverse membership and inclusive association which provides access to all programs and resources to individuals regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, veteran status, disability or appearance.


The Director of Diversity and Inclusion will assist MPACE in the recruitment and professional development of diverse individuals by continually developing, examining, and instituting policies, practices and procedures which evolve with the needs of our diverse membership and profession.

This new board position will help further the association’s goals of creating content, membership and mentorship that is representative of the entire association.”


The Director of Diversity and Inclusion will support the Diversity & Inclusion Committee’s goals, including celebrating diversity through programming, resource sharing and ongoing communication regarding diversity initiatives. Another goal is to support college and employer members and their ability to address the diverse needs of students and the ever-changing landscape of higher education and career services.
